Video Ferox Etsy Round-Up

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Etsy, while being an excellent source for small, ceramic owls and feathery things for your hair, is also a good source for all things horror, gore, steampunk, cyberpunk, sci-fi,  and any other genre that could even tangentially be covered by Video Ferox. So, I give you a sampling of what the Etsy crafters have to offer. (And in the spirit of DIY and making a living by your own two hands, I’m not including shit that isn’t hand made. You know who you are, guy selling screws.)

1. Dracula vs Frankenstein Shoes

Ok, so these are a little cutesy. A lot cutesy. But guys! Dracula! On your shoes! With his pal Frankenstein! Kind of sweet, no? And yet, somehow all I can think of is that bit from Ed Wood, “Karloff…? Sidekick…? FUCK YOU.” Perhaps it’s best that Bela didn’t live to see these shoes.

2. Zombie Rabbits Limited Edition Print

Bunnies + zombies. Everyone wins.

3. First Born Creeps Candlesticks

I love these little guys. Can you imagine a small army of them marching, slithering, or stuttering their way across your Thanksgiving table? Me too.

4. Cthulhu Necklace

Beautiful. There’s nothing that makes it more Cthulhu than octopus, but beautiful nonetheless. (And anyway, we all know that octopi are scarily smart and eerily prescient, right? So, still horror-related?)

5. Ted Box Art Print

I’ve had this artist’s robot box art prints bookmarked in my “wishlist” folder for over a year now. They’re two parts retro-futurism and one part affectionate nostalgia. A perfect mix.

Game Reviews: Resident Evil 4

resident-evil-4

Alright, this is my first post. Let’s get started with the review.

Recently I started and finished playing Resident Evil 4 for the PS2. I picked this game up a few years ago but I hadn’t played it until just recently because I kept getting sidetracked. Then the release of Resident Evil 5 got my ass in gear, cause it wouldn’t be much fun to play RE5 without knowing the story of RE4. The Resident Evil series is one of my favorite groups of games and RE4 did not disappoint, as I will now describe. (more…)

Well, I had some really ambitious reviews in the works, but those will have to wait. They’ll have to wait because I’m a lazy mutha fucka. That’s right. I said I’m a lazy mutha fucka. (more…)

Elvira Double Feature: A Bucket of Blood/I Eat Your Skin

elvira-cover

Coffee drinkin’ beatniks, smooth talkin’ poet-hipsters, pancake-faced blacksploitation voodoo zombies, and the biggest and palest pair of monster mammories you’ve ever seen on a TV screen! ELVIRA: Mistress of the Dark presents A BUCKET OF BLOOD and I EAT YOUR SKIN!!! Two movies so great they literally lactate awsomeness and a hostess so big boobied her bras are as tattered and stretched out as her awful puns. Yup, get ready to motorboat some titty jokes, cause Elvira’s gonna shove em in your faces.

And so am I. (more…)

netflix

Netflix used to be an adventure.  But, like a pussy whipped boyfriend to his crazy bitch of a girlfriend, the ‘flix now meekly recommends only the safest choices, seemingly terrified that after one bad pick I’d throw our couch out the window, sleep with my jock ex-boyfriend, and (worst of all) cancel my subscription.
